A Gosnells police officer has a fractured skull after he was allegedly hit with a replica pistol last night.
The incident occurred when the officer stopped a car at the intersection of Davison Street and Belmont Road, Kenwick, about 9.45pm.
A police spokesman said the occupant was arrested after police discovered he had outstanding warrants.
During the arrest a struggle took place and the officer was allegedly hit with the pistol.
The man is expected to be charged today.
