Thornlie Tree Man - Richard Pennicuik

On the 7th of December 2009, Richard Pennicuik, better known as the Thornlie Tree Man, climbed a tree on the front verge of his Perth home.

About six years ago when the council first attempted to cut trees down, Richard and a close neighbour stated their case to the City of Gosnells essentially saying they wanted to keep their trees.
The City of Gosnells, then, ruled in favour of them keeping their trees.
Suddenly, not only is Richard's verge tree dangerous and must be cut down, but seemingly every other verge tree on Hume Road is also suddenly so dangerous that they also must be cut down.
Then there are the trees on 14 other streets, all suddenly so dangerous that they must be cut down.
You MUST ASK the City of Gosnells!

Why has the City of Gosnells REJECTED all of Richard's attempts to arrange a meeting in a private and neutral location?

Man charged after ex-lover stabbed 25 times in knife frenzy

A PERTH man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing his former girlfriend up to 25 times as bystanders watched in horror, before then stabbing himself repeatedly in the chest.
The 29-year-old woman and 49-year-old man were driving along Lewis Road, in southeast suburban Maddington on Saturday morning, when an argument broke out.
Police said the fight escalated when the man, who was driving, pulled out a knife and stabbed the woman several times.
Their Mitsubishi truck then slammed into a ute as it was crossing the intersection with Gosnells Road West, and the woman tried to escape by jumping out and running across the road.
But the man chased her down and allegedly started stabbing her again in the neck, chest and legs as she fell bleeding to the ground. Police said she was stabbed between 15 and 25 times.
They said the man then turned the knife on himself, stabbing his chest and abdomen.

Three motorists stopped and went to the woman's aid, using star pickets to hold the man at bay until police arrived.
The woman was last night in a stable condition in Royal Perth Hospital.
The man was under police guard and in a stable condition at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
He has been charged with attempted murder.
In another stabbing incident, a 21-year-old man was found dead at a Tuart Hill home, in Perth's north, at 9.45am yesterday.
Police said the Major Crime Squad was investigating.

Woman stabbed 'more than 30 times' in street frenzy

A WOMAN was viciously stabbed more than 30 times in a bizarre attack in Perth's south-eastern suburbs just after 11am.
Her male attacker, believed to be her partner, then turned the knife on himself.
The savage injuries were inflicted just seconds after the couple's truck ploughed into a ute at the junction of Gosnells Rd West and Lewis Rd, in Martin, about 11.10am.
Horrified witnesses said the woman, aged in her 20s, got out of the truck and fled across the road before the man chased her, repeatedly ramming the knife into her chest, neck and legs before she collapsed.
Residents said the man appeared "out of control".
"I heard a bang and ran out to see the truck had hit the ute," said Ron, who did not want his surname published.
"The guy had jumped out and he was stabbing the girl. She was saying 'Don't, don't'.

"I rang 000 and grabbed four towels to retain the bleeding. She was in a terrible way. It was frenzied."
Ian Garrett, the driver of the ute, said the truck appeared out of nowhere before it slammed into his vehicle.
"It hit me (and) I saw him come from the right side with a knife. It looked like a small hunting knife," Mr Garrett said.
Forensic officers assessed the blood-splattered footpath.
The woman was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where she remained in a stable condition yesterday afternoon.
The man was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where he is under police guard.

City pleased with removal of tree structure
The structure in the verge tree was removed to the satisfaction of the City of Gosnells within the timeframe of the notice.
City of Gosnells Acting Chief Executive Officer Chris Terelinck said “The City of Gosnells is very pleased that as hoped Mr Pennicuik removed the tree house structure from the City’s verge tree and avoided legal proceedings.
“We still hope that Mr Pennicuik will come down from the City’s tree and meet with us to discuss possible resolutions.
“The City is keen to end the inconvenience to other residents on the street, to do this we need Mr Pennicuik to come down and meet with us.” said Mr Terelinck.
Since December the City has repeatedly offered, in writing, to meet at a neutral location for discussions. Mr Pennicuik is safe in the knowledge the City has assured him the tree will not be removed while discussions take place, so there is nothing to be gained by staying in the tree.
