FIRE ripped through bush in Perth's southern suburbs overnight.
The blaze started about 8.40pm in bushland near Balfour St in Southern River and took 26 firefighters almost two hours to bring under control.Fire crews from four metropolitan stations and volunteer units were called to battle the blaze, which was fanned by strong winds.
Firefighters continued mopping up hot spots until 2am.
About 12ha of bush was destroyed.
