Hi all please see this weeks report from the Officer in Charge of Canning Vale Police Station.
Dear residents,
We have been receiving a lot of calls from the public lately, reporting suspicious behaviour. This is exactly what we need to keep on top of crime in your suburb.
Not every report is actually someone up to no good, and let me give you a few examples why it is important to call.
Tuesday night we had a call about a small white car acting suspicious in a certain location that was having trouble with cars being broken into. The call was the car had been driving slowly up and down the street several times in the last half hour. Canning Vale Police were in the area conducting patrols because of the break-ins, and managed to stop the car just minutes after the call came in. As it turned out, it was a learner driver practicing their driving skills, but we were more than happy to investigate. If it WAS someone doing the wrong thing, we had a great chance to catch them.
Later that night we received another call, from another resident, for a similar thing.A suspicious car driving slowly up and down a street, several times. This time the result was very different, as the car in question was full of some local crooks and on seeing the police car, took off, dumped the car (abandoned it) and ran off. Being some of our regular offenders and not being very bright, they forgot this carwasn't stolen, and was in fact owned by one of the simple minds in the car who now faces a string of traffic charges. So not only did the call almost certainly stop some crimes being committed, it provided us with valuable intelligence of who is out and about, who they are with, and resulted in one idiot facing court.
So please, call 131 444 every time you see something suspicious, as it is happening.
This week's crime report.
You may have heard reports about ATM's being blown up during the week. There were several, likely to be done by the same people and this is being investigated by Specialist Detectives. Any time you use an ATM, please be alert to your surroundings, cars parked nearby with people watching those using the ATM, and as always, report suspicious behaviour to police on 131 444.
THORNLIE
Thornlie is starting to become busy again, so we need information from Thornlie residents.
A house under construction in Viscount Crt had the shed broken into and 25 bags of cement stolen during the day on Friday July 13. That is something that should stand out, people loading cement OUT of a shed and INTO a car/ute/trailer/truck. As well as calls to Crimestoppers, this type of crime, building site theft, can be reported to the Name and Shame hotline, where you are liable for a reward up to $3000. The number is 1300 2 REWARD.
During the morning on Sunday July 15, a vacant house in Yale Rd had thieves steal a fridge. Again, this is something that should prompt calls from the public, property being removed from a house that the neighbours know is vacant. Later that day a second house in Yale Rd had a rear window smashed in an attempt to break in. This may be a case of a previous tenant trying to break back in, as the watchful neighbours have informed police of seeing the previous tenant returning after he was kicked out. Another example of looking after your neighbours and helping to keep the community safe.
LANGFORD
One burglary in Langford this week, during the morning on Wednesday July 8 a house in Simons Way was broken into by removing roof tiles. A neighbour who was looking after the house, disturbed the thief inside the house. The male person was described as possibly of aboriginal descent, who drove off in a black Hiacevan. If you believe you know who is responsible, please call Crimestoppers on1800 333 000.
SOUTHERN RIVER
One burglary in Southern River this week. During the early hours of the morning on Tuesday July 17, a house in Millewa Road apparently left unlocked, had thieves steal car keys and then steal the car that was parked out the front. The car was later found abandoned in Coolbellup. This information infers that someone was 'visiting' the Southern River area and stolen the car to return to where they live. This is another example of why we need people to report suspicious behaviour AND PEOPLE to police on 131 444.
CANNING VALE
Two burglaries in Canning Vale this week. A house in Linaria Way had the kitchen door left open during the day on Thursday July 12, allowing thieves to walk in and steal a wallet. No one was seen and no reports from the area have been received. An attempt was made to break into a house in Bennett Drive during the day on Sunday July 15, however, other than a hole in the window, entry was not gained.
That's all for this week, stay safe.
